In this paper, the notch-routing is introduced as the novel methodology to reduce the near-end crosstalk (NEXT) in tightly coupled and short microstrip channel. According to the high-integration of diverse components in a package, the space between traces gets narrower, that results in increasing NEXT due to increased capacitive coupling. We propose the modified structure of the transmission line with the uniformly placed notch so as to decrease the capacitive coupling. The proposed structure reduces NEXT by about 15% at 20 Gbps, and secures an additional height of 2.2% on the eye diagram compared to a conventional transmission line without a notch structure.
