3-D imaging of malaria-infected human red blood cells using optical diffraction tomography

We measure 3-D refractive index distributions of malaria-infected red blood cells (RBCs) using optical diffraction tomography. Optical diffraction tomography reveals high resolution details of morphological changes in RBCs during the intraerythrocytic cycles of malaria parasites.
