dc.description.abstract | Dip coating is used to fabricate a tube-shaped medical device with the outer diameter of less than 1 mm. This paper presents a rapid heat-curing method using thermal radiation to remove the beading effect caused by gravity and the surface tension of the liquid silicone, and to make the surface even. The length, inner diameter, and outer diameter of the tube are 10 mm, 450 µm, and 850 µm, respectively. The cylinder-shaped inner mold of 450 µm diameter is dipped and withdrawn with constant speed by using an XYZ-stage. The coated liquid silicone is cured by a halogen light immediately after the withdrawal, and the temperature of the heated area is controlled to 200 degrees within 3 seconds. The outer diameter of the fabricated tube is measured at 15 different locations to test the surface smoothness. The average and standard deviation are 866 µm and 16.8 µm, respectively. | - |
