Research on science and technology is an indispensable factor in determining the future, and research equipment is one of the main resources in R&D. Since the construction and operation of research equipment requires a lot of cost and available professional manpower, careful decision-making is required for planning and execution. The purpose of this study is to explore the influence and role of research equipment on scientific and technological research performance and to suggest how to detect and interpret signals in the early stages when establishing future plans from a long-term perspective. First, we will evaluate the impact of expensive research equipment on R&D performance and seek a new perspective on R&D cooperation on the joint consumption of research equipment. In addition, we present a new future prediction methodology that tracks the movement from a weak signal to a strong signal, and suggests its applicability as a subject for future research by confirming it through information on R&D projects and research equipment in Korea. This study confirms the importance of research equipment and contributes to moving one step further in the existing future strategy research.
