In this dissertation, a new analysis method which is able to examine the safety and to assess the serviceability of high-rise buildings from construction period to service life has been developed. The effect of both construction sequence and inelastic behavior of concrete has been considered in the developed analysis method in three dimensions. The stiffness matrix of a three-dimensional line element was formulated to describe both structural members such as columns and beams, and nonstructural members such as shores. The Mindlin plate bending element has been used to model the behavior of floor slabs. In order to simulate both the gradual application of the construction dead load and the gradual increase in stiffness of the structure, the stiffness matrices for both the structural members and the temporary members were gradually constructed and added to the global stiffness matrix. It was assumed that there is no load distribution between the members until another new casting of a floor, if there is no additional deformation of the member and no additional external force is applied. Sectional analysis algorithm was applied to the developed analysis program so as to calculate the long-term behavior of structural members induced by creep and drying shrinkage. The more efficient analysis technique and modeling method for practical use were also suggested. The analysis method for examination of the safety under construction and the one for calculation of column shortening were suggested. The analysis method to examine the safety includes the complicated construction procedure such as shore work and the analysis results provide the load distribution between temporary members and structural members during construction. It was noticed that modeling of the whole structure is unnecessary in order to check the safety during the construction period, since almost the same construction sequences are repeated. For the analysis method to calculate column shortening from...
