In this paper, we present a new winding scheme for homopolar bearingless motors. The proposed design is based on novel quadruple three-phase windings that collectively generate all magnetomotive force (MMF) waves needed for rotation and suspension controls. This design can reduce the overall volume of the windings, thus increasing the motor's power density. The phase-to-neutral voltage of our winding is increased by a factor of 4 compared to a standard three-phase winding for a given DC link voltage. This increases the motor's speed and power density.
