The effects of various variables on retention volumes were studied and partition coefficient, separation factor, column efficiency and heat of solution were obtained by the analytical chromatography.
The feed materials were diethylether, dimethoxymethane and dichloromethane with similar boiling points. The variables were mixture volume, % loading, particle size, column length, and column temperature.
The relation of partition coefficient to column temperature could be expressed as the following exponential term.
$K = K_o exp (-ΔH_s/RT)$
The HETP increased almost linealy with sample volume and other effects of various variables were considered.
Frontal analysis was performed using ID-1 cm glass column and the column efficiency for each experimental condition was calculated. Comparisons between analytical and preparative chromatography were made. HETP increased with temperature and flow rate which showed the same tendency between them.
Based on the above obtained results, the experimental of simulated moving bed was performed. The ratio of outlet to inlet concentration was 1.6 and 0.4 for DEE and DCM respectively.
