The objective of this work is the estimation of the effective thermal conductivity of the porous catalyst pellet. The effective thermal conductivity of the Boehmite pellet was measured by the steady-steady comparative method using teflon as a reference sample. Experimental data of this work, and that of Mischke and Smith, and that of Mischke and Smith, and that of Masamune and Smith were applied to several previous models to check the validity of the models. As a result, it was found that the gas-dependent mechanism as well as the gas-independent mechanism was not satisfactory in illustrating and estimating the heat transfer characteristics of the porous catalyst pellet, and therefore more suitable model is required.
