Catechol derivatives present in various places in nature. They have unique capability of various interactions due to the specificity of their structure. These interaction characteristics have made catechol derivatives attract attention in the field of materials science. It is expected to utilize this advantage in various fields. In this dissertation, we developed materials utilizing various interactions of catechol derivatives, and applied them to 3D bioprinting, underwater adhesive, and surface modification. In addition, new phenomena occurring during the oxidation of catechol, which is the basis of the reactivity of catechol derivatives, have been discussed and their mechanisms have been identified.
