The dead time of the detector is a phenomenon that inevitably occurs due to mechanical limitations, and various dead time models have been developed to correct this. MCSODT (Monte Carlo Simulation for Optimization of Dead Time) was proposed as a method to evaluate the value of dead time and the probability of paralysis, which are parameters of the Albert-Nelson model. Unlike conventional dead time measurement methods that were focused on counting rates, the parameters of the dead time model are optimized based on a comparison between the gamma spectrum generated through Monte Carlo simulation based on the dead time model and the gamma spectrum measured by the NaI(Tl) detector. Through this study, it became possible to simplify the complex and precise experimental process previously required for dead time measurement.
