The desire to synthesize nanostructures that combine the mechanical flexibility, optical and electrical properties of conducting polymers with the high electrical conductivity and magnetic properties of metal nanoparticles has inspired the development of several techniques for the controlled fabrication of metal nanoparticle-conducting polymer composites. Functionalized metal nanoparticles have been the subject of intense activity for the past decade in terms of their applications in electronic, optical and biomedical materials. Incorporation of nanoparticles in polymer matrices is a field of particular interest for materials engineering and the study of nanoparticle-matrix interaction. A desirable approach would involve the blending of pre-made nanoparticles into pre-synthesized polymer. This provides full synthetic control over both the nanoparticles and the matrix, and has the potential for generating a wide variety of composite materials. For those purposes, metal nanoparticles would be selectively dispersed in polymer matrices with dimensions on the order of several hundreds of nanometers. To overcome these difficulties, it is necessary to design the coating of the nanoparticles to make them compatible with polymer matrix. The incorporation of metal nanoparticles into the conducting polymer offers enhanced performance of materials. They have diverse application potentials in electronics devices because incorporation of metal clusters is known to increase the conductivity of the polymer. Herein, we prepared polytriphenylamine, (PTPAs) whose derivatives have useful properties in electrical conductivity and electroluminescence, and they are used as hole-transport materials (HTMs) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and organic light-emitting diode (OLEDs). To study the effect of the polymer coated metal nanoparticles on miscibility, we prepared noble PS/PTPA blends system with these nanoparticles as compatibilizers comparing to diblock copolymers, where t...
