In the present study, carbonyl iron powder (CIP)-embedded carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) was fabricated with different CIP contents (i.e., 0, 100, 200, and 300 wt%). The effects of CIP contents on the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding capabilities of the fabricated composites were observed. The test results exhibited that the AC conductivity of the fabricated composites was improved as the increasing of the CIP contents, and it led to the improvement on the EMI shielding capability. In addition, the mechanical properties of the fabricated composites were discussed in terms of the tensile strengths and young’s modulus, and they were analyzed with the microstructural images taken via SEM and EDS observations. Lastly, the fabricated composites were coated onto the cement mortar, and the applicability as EMI shielding composites in civil structures was investigated.
