Properties of ordered para-aromatic polyamides with non-extending groups = 비확장 그룹을 가지고 있는 배향된 파라 아로마틱 폴리아미드의 물성

In order to study the effects of rigid rodlike segment and non-extending group on anisotropic properties of polymer molecule, three kinds of aromatic polyamides were synthesized by using higashi reaction. Especially, the monomer was incorporated as a larger rodlike segment into the polymer chain . First, the solution of DC-polymer which possesses a series of p-phenyleneamide bonds and m-phenylene linkage showed gel-like character as the polymer concentration as well as the length of rodlike segment in this polymer molecule increased. This gel-like behavior was proved by RDS(Rheometric Dynamic Spectroscopy) measurements. In particular, the solution of DC7-polymer with 7 p-phenylene-amide bonds revealed a gel-like anisotropic phase which was slowly formed and exhibited a low melting point. The other polymers which have 7 p-phenylene-amide bonds and a number of methylene units in their chains show different phase characters according to the nature of flexible units. M3, M5 and M7 have an odd--numbered methylene units in the linkage. The solution of M7 polymer showed a concentric crystallo-solvateew. But M3 solution revealed the birefringent pattern probably because of the length reduction of a flexible unit. On the other hand, typical nematic phases were shown in the solution of M4 and M6 which had a linkage of 4 methylene units and 6 methylene units, respectively. Ternary solutions of M4 and M6 with ploy(p-phenylene terephthalamide) and ploy(m-phenylene isophthalamide) in $H_2SO_4$ were studied and compared with the Flory``s ternary phase diagram. PPTA-PMIA-$H_2SO_4$ and M6-PMIA-$H_2SO_4$ systems showed the same patterns as the theoretical phase transition curves obtained from Flory``s theory.
