dc.description.abstractWe introduce the conforming and nonconforming mimetic finite difference methods for 2-dimensional diffusion equations on polygonal meshes. We prove the optimal-order convergence of the nonconforming method. Finally, we present numerical experiments verifying the convergence rate derived from the theoretical results.-
