Two abundant proteins of approximate molecular masses of 22 and 23 kilodaltons were purified from strawberry (Fragaria $\times$ ananassa) seed. Amino acid sequence analysis shows that the 22 and 23 kDa proteins are similar to each other and they have similarity to glutelin, a cereal storage protein. It is supposed that the 22 and 23 kDa proteins are the products of a gene family which encodes storage proteins. The 20 kDa protein was also purified from watermelon (Citrullus lamatus) seed and its amino acid sequence is similar to glutelin too.
