Semiconductor quantum dots have been emerging as a primary building block of the quantum technology, due to their unique electronic resonance states and high material quality as a single photon source. The fiber-coupled photonic crystal cavity can enhance the spontaneous emission rate of the quantum dot exciton and collect photon efficiently into the guided mode of the tapered fiber. In this thesis, we study the designs of the fiber-coupled photonic crystal cavity and the characteristics of single photons emitted from a quantum dot embedded in a photonic crystal cavity by employing the quasi-resonant excitation technique.
