A method and an apparatus for performing a visual measurement of the thickness distribution of a paint film. The measurement target region is heated by a heating unit that applies a light beam while moving relative to the measurement target region of the measurement target structure. The sensing unit moving together with the heating unit generates a plurality of thermal images related to a phenomenon in which thermal energy propagates in the measurement target region by scanning and photographing the heated measurement target region. The dynamic thermal images are converted into static spatiotemporal integrated thermal images by performing a coordinate transformation according to a spatiotemporal integrated coordinate transformation algorithm. The paint film thickness was calculated by using the fourier heat transfer equation. Noise caused by an external heat source is removed by subtracting the pre-heated spatiotemporal integrated thermal image from the transformed spatiotemporal integrated thermal image.
