The circuit operation analysis for tapped inductor buck converter with single SiC switch based zero voltage and zero current switching (ZVZCS) in continuous conduction mode (CCM) is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter enables ZVZCS operation for wide operating ranges of duty cycle, load power, and input voltage by adopting snubber circuit, which consists of two capacitors and three diodes. Its ZVZCS operation does not require cumbersome voltage or current sensing and voltage/current stress of active components does not exceed the order of input voltage. To minimize the time consumed in ZVZCS, SiC MOSFET with short rise and fall time is used as an active switch. A detailed analysis for CCM operation of the converter and its design steps are shown. Experimental verification has been conducted with 300 W prototype with maximum efficiency of 98.4 %.
