The glassy polymer, PIM-1(Polymer of Intrinsic Microporosity), was fabricated to hollow fiber membrane for application to the carbon dioxide mineralization. PIM-1 was synthesized via low temperature method. PIM-1 hollow fiber membrane was fabricated via dry-jet-wet-quench spinning method and with the aid of second outer sheath layer composed of 1-butanol/Tetrahydrofuran, asymmetric defect-free membrane was obtained. The dense layer thickness was characterized by Scanning electron microscope. Permeability and selectivity for CO2/N2 gas mixture was measured. Modules were made from PIM-1 hollow fiber membrane and by flowing calcium-containing solution and CO2 gas, calcium carbonate was synthesized. As bubbles are not formed at the surface, conversion efficiency from CO2 gas to calcium carbonate was better the existing batch carbonation method.
