Mutual coupling due to surface current over a dielectric supported microstrip antenna is a major cause of impedance matching deterioration and antenna’s pattern deformation with gain reduction. In order to reduce mutual coupling a simple via fence structure is proposed in this paper which does not require space more than the unit element size. The via fence is applied around annular slot-ring and it effectively reduced the surface current flow. The mutual coupling reduction using via fence is demonstrated with various results.-
