A 120 & x00A0;GHz on-board chip-to-chip wireless link is presented. A printed circuit board-based, highly directive Y-shaped open-ended microstrip antenna that radiates electric fields perpendicular to the ground plane is used. To realize a real chip-to-chip environment, the antenna is connected to the radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) using a bond-wire. The distance was set to 20 and 50 & x00A0;mm. The measured peak S21 for the 20 and 50 & x00A0;mm wireless link was & x2013;28.7 and & x2013;35.6 & x00A0;dB. The measured 3 & x00A0;dB bandwidth was 22 & x00A0;GHz for the 20 & x00A0;mm case and 20 & x00A0;GHz for the 50 & x00A0;mm case.
