This thesis introduces the wireless sensor node(WSN) which uses flexible TEG as energy harvesting source and attached to factory pipe to monitor environment in real time. The flexible TEG has the advantage of efficiently supplying energy to the WSN from heat sources originating from the surface of the curved gas pipe. The designed WSN senses the variable harvesting power by monitoring the voltage of the flexible TEG from the energy aware system. The harvesting power can be efficiently utilized through an algorithm that adjusts the operating duty of the VOC gas sensor to match the sensed supply power. In addition, even when the power supply is cut off from the flexible TEG, the proposed WSN can monitor VOC gas concentration for 40 hours through the used 100-mAh Li-polymer battery and it can guarantee the safety of the factory environment.
