dc.description.abstractA new discrete vortex method is developed for the calculation of two dimensional unsteady separated flow characteristics downstream of bluff bodies at a high subcritical Reynolds number. In order to apply the discrete vortex flow model for the near wake flow downstream of the more complicated body shapes, the available discrete vortex method is modified by employing a panel method. Numerical calculations are performed for vortex shedding rate, lift and drag in a function of time, and streamlines and position of vortices are drawn for separated flow downstream of a square prism, a flat plate, and a semicircular cylinder respectively. The calculated results showed a favorable agreement with available experimental data.eng
