Wearable device market is rapidly growing into the next generation of mobile electronic devices. As the more and more wearable electronic devices require more electric energy supply, it is necessary to develop suitable electric energy charging and storage systems. In the case of a lithium secondary battery considered as a core energy source of such electronic devices, studies have been made in the direction of a flexible form for complete embedding into a wearable electronic device. However, there is a limit to be able to stably operate in mechanical behavior while maintaining high energy density. Moreover, frequent detachment for charging and sudden discharge during use can cause inconvenience in using the device. Here, we developed a wearable rechargeable battery that can be operated stably under severe mechanical conditions based on the material and structural studies on existing lithium secondary battery. In addition, a near-infrared wireless charging system has been developed and combined to propose a flexible and rechargeable battery that is completely embedded in a wearable device.
