Some of the polymers are those that dissolve in water and dissociate to have multiple charges, which are called polyelectrolytes. This polyelectrolyte, which has a positive charge or a negative charge, can form a complex through charge interaction with a polyelectrolyte having opposite charge. These complexes have the advantages of having high mechanical strength due to charge interactions within it and maintaining its functionality even after the formation of the complexes.
In this thesis, bio-polymers are used to prepare various forms of fiber and film, which can be used for localized gene delivery and cell delivery. The developed materials showed strong mechanical properties and showed localized gene delivery and cell patterning at micro level.
