The liquid crystalline polymer is a super engineered polymer used for precision injection molding and high strengthen fiber due to its unique high strength, high heat and high flow characteristics. In particular, the thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer, which appears to be liquid crystalline characteristics by heat, is capable of producing high strength and high performance fibers at lower cost by utilizing existing facilities. However, the thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer, which is currently developed, is limited to the high heat resistant products for injection molding, so it must be designed to reduce the melting temperature to a suitable level, and to ensure suitable viscosity at the same time. Moreover, the effective removal of the by-products produced during the polymerization process should be controlled to ensure that the fiber is made readily during the melt spinning process. In this study, the polymer composition developed to manufacture high strength fibers by introducing suit-able monomers to reduce expensive HNA content and reduce the melting temperature. It also controlled the re-action condition to effectively remove the by-products and obtained high strength fibers through the heat treatment.
