dc.description.abstractAn sRNA for inhibiting gene expression in prokaryotes, the sRNA comprising:(i) an Hfq binding site from the sRNA of MicC; and(ii) a region that base-pairs with the target gene mRNAwherein the region that base-pairs with the target gene mRNA is constructed so that the energy of binding to the target gene mRNA is in the range from -20 kcal/mol to -40 kcal/mol; and wherein the region that base-pairs with the target gene mRNA base-pairs with part of the ribosome binding site of the target gene mRNA and the region has a length of 19-37 nucleotides.-
