The analysis concerns collapse behavior with the change of design parameters at the initial stage of conceptional design. Collapse analysis of a vehicle model of framed structures has been carried out using finite element limit analysis. The analysis result of an initial model with frames of uniform section helps sequential changes of design parameters so as to strengthen weak parts and as a result of those design changes, collapse load was increased and deflection toward a passenger room was reduced. The results demonstrate the versatility of finite element limit analysis as a tool that verifies the safety of vehicle models.
