A novel double dielectric layered thin planar lens for antenna gain enhancement has been designed at 5.8 GHz. The proposed design is based on two cascaded metasurfaces placed on a source patch antenna. Planar metasurefaces consists of 5 x 5 array of novel cross-shaped unit cells. These unit cells are constructively distributed over the metasurfaces by varying the transmission phase. The focal length, f between the source patch antenna and planar metasurafces is about λo/2.25. Total volume of the proposed design is designed in a very compact size i.e. λoxλoxλo/2.25 with focal-distance-ratio, f/D = 0.44. Presented low profile lens design is capable to significantly enhance the realized gain of source patch antenna up to 7 dB.
