If the cover plate of a device itself can be used as the speaker when the audible information transfer is needed, it would be useful for the modern man-machine interaction society. In this work, we study on the feasibility of the creating multiple virtual speaker zones and a baffle for generating a stereo or rich sound in low frequencies. First, the structural characteristics of the plate are identified and the locations and size of virtual speaker zones are rendered. Then, the position of an array of actuators are selected at the periphery of the plate, which excite the bending waves to fulfil the rendering at the designated locations of the surface. In order to obtain the proper complex weightings for the actuator excitations, the inverse problem, which consists of the rendered zone and magnitude, and the measured transfer function between rendered zones and actuators, is solved. By applying this inverse vibro-acoustic rendering technique to the display panel of an OLED TV, it is observed that the virtual speakers and baffle are generated simultaneously having a nearly constant phase with reasonable accuracy.-
