This thesis proposes a user selection algorithm for the hybrid precoding in downlink multi-user millimeter wave (mmWave) systems. Our design aims to classify favorable users in terms of the hybrid precoding gain. In order to maximize the overall sum-rate of selected users, we then establish an appropriate criterion, which quantifies the hybrid precoding gain of each user. Some numerical results are given to show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is very close to that of the full search scheme. It is also observed that setting appropriate user filtering process can be further helpful to improve performance as well as to reduce the running time of the algorithm.
