In the present study, a three-dimensional finite element analysis system, CAMPform 3D was developed for the analysis of metal forming processes. CAMPform 3D is composed of a solver based on the thermo-rigid-viscoplastic approach and graphic user interface(GUI) based pre/post-processors for the effective description of forming conditions as well as graphic display of simulation results. In particular, the solver was developed using hexahedral elements for deformation analysis and tetrahedral elements for heat transfer analysis of dies. In order to resolve remeshing problems which occur during simulations, a hexahedral mesh generator based on the master grid approach was developed. For the construction of tetrahedral mesh systems for heat transfer analysis of dies, a tetrahedral mesh generator based on the advancing front technique was developed, In this paper, the overall structure and computational background of CAMPform 3D will be briefly explained and several three-dimensional analysis results of metal forming processes will be shown. From the currents results, it is construed that CAMPform 3D can be effectively used for three-dimensional analyses of practical metal forming processes.
