To control multiple small modular reactor (SMR) units efficiently and safely with a reduced number of operators, utilizing an intelligent control system will be important. As part of the effort, the authors propose to develop a platform which solves an inverse problem with thermal hydraulic codes. In this presentation, the authors will use a large nuclear reactor case first to illustrate the usefulness and implication of solving inverse problems for the future multi-unit SMR control and operation.
