In this paper, we propose a hybrid cooperative communication protocol taking both data rate and link failure into account. By employing some devices as relays, the proposed scheme can select a transmission path with higher data rate, which allows an improvement of the quality of service for realtime service by providing faster data transmission. In addition, the proposed scheme can reduce the frame loss and degradation of network performance caused by link failure. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated through simulation, from which it is confirmed that the proposed scheme improves the network performance.
