As an alternative to conventional inorganic electrode materials, organic electrode materials are promising candidates for the next generation of sustainable energy storage device. Quinone and its derivatives were chosen for good redox potential and its electrochemical reversibility. Quinone compounds, promising electroactive organics were synthesized to produce reactive organic compound with rigid polymeric support. The novel quinone based Covalent Organic Polymers (COPs) were synthesized and. investigated. The synthesized materials were analyzed in FT-IR spectrometer, Elemental Analysis, Solid State NMR for structural confirmation. The quinone structure of C-NMR 180ppm in C13 NMR , C=0 bond at 1750 cm-1 was confirmed . The quinone-COPs were also passed thermal and chemical stability test which showed better stability than the original quinone compound. Galvanostatic measurements and charge/discharge cycling performance was done to investigate electrochemical activity of Q-COPs. Reversibility of Q-COPs were confirmed but with slow charge and discharge due to low electrical conductivity. Ellagic acid, COP-53 showed the best galvanostatic measurement of 300 mAHg-1 in a range of 1~3 V vs Li/Li+, which is similar to the theoretical capacity of COP-53. Anthraquinone derivatives, COP-40 and COP-49 showed good cyclic performance of 600~800 mAHg- .
