New diagnostic, modelling and plant capability onMAST have delivered important results in key areas for ITER/DEMO and the current MAST Upgrade. These include: investigations of micro- and macro-stability of the pedestal with and without resonant magnetic perturbations with n = 3,4,6; flow-shear and turbulent dynamics during L-H transitions; ELM resolved scrape-off layer Ti measurements in the mid-plane and the divertor; fast-ion redistribution due to fishbones with on and off-axis neutral beam injection; the statistical analysis of low-k ion turbulence measurements; and detailed NTM stability studies. The novel 3D electron Bernstein synthetic imaging shows promising first data sensitive to the edge current profile and flows.
