For higher data rates transmission with longer transmit range without additional signal bandwidth or more transmission power, coded multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems have been intensively studied over the last few years and considered as a suitable ways to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. Consequently, coded MIMO technology was an essential and important part of modern wireless communication standards such as wireless local area networks (IEEE 802.11n), the 4-th generation cellular networks (4G), 3GPP-Long Term Evolution (LTE), and WiMAX. Several space-time codes were proposed to increase the spectral efficiency and/or transmission reliability. Orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes have (almost) full diversity gain by transmitting many replicas of the transmitted symbols through each antenna. However, the loss of the transmission rate was essential. The spatial multiplexing (SM) can increase the bandwidth efficiency by transmitting the independent stream through transmit antennas and its transmission rate is a full-rate. With the maximum-likelihood detector, SM-MIMO system has the maximal receive diversity gains. However, the disadvantage of the ML receiver is the high computational complexity to obtain the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) of the coded bit. As low-complexity strategies, linear detectors such as ZF or MMSE algorithms can be considered. Unfortunately, coded MIMO systems with linear detectors has the smaller diversity order than that of ML detector. An iterative receiver structure with a soft interference cancellation is another method to achieve the maximal receive diversity order. In this dissertation, we introduce two bit-interleaved binary space-time codes (B-STC) with iterative decoding for a coded MIMO systems. The first B-STC scheme is proposed to obtain an increase in information rate without loss of diversity order, where two transmit and two receive antennas are used. Futhermore, because t...
