dc.description.abstract | Recent researches on the Internet of Things (IoT) have summoned everyday-object to the Internet space. It is expected that a new service called Social Networking Service for the Internet of Things (IoTSNS), which can weave the Internet of Things and the Internet of People. In this context, this study elicits requirements for realizing the IoT-SNS, proposing a social networking platform named Lilliput. This platform makes human and objects connected to each other with social relationships, enabling people to obtain a plethora of social experiences. The main contributions of this thesis are summarized as follows. Firstly, we propose appropriate social relationships in the IoT-SNS called IoT-Social Relationship by analyzing the real data from current social networking service and devices (RFID, sensor, and legacy devices). Secondly, we propose Lilliput, social networking platform. The proposed platform is based on a domain model of IoT-SNS and a global identification system, based on ontology, and providing a human-centric access control policy. We prototypes a possible application of IoT-SNSs, Sorcerer’s Book, by using Lilliput platform. The prototyped application shows that people can securely share their places and objects with each other, obtaining a myriad of social experiences on the IoT-SNS. We also evaluate Lilliput with two factors about architectural decisions; the concept of two persistent storage, the expenses of proposed access control policy. The former evaluation shows that the concept of two persistent storage supplements data scalability and performance, intrinsic problems of ontology-based systems. The latter shows that the expenses for providing security are acceptable. | eng |
