The formation of floating films by spin coating process was observed on the pillars of patterned substrates. The floating phenomenon was controlled by an aging and a concentration of solutions. In the floating films, layered basic zinc acetate (LBZA) was detected by XRD and played a role as a framework to float the film. The polymerization of LBZA, floating phenomena of the structures, and their relations were investigated based on SEM and XRD results. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
