Persistent naming of topological entities for history-based parametric solid models plays vital role in computer-aided design (CAD), especially for reevaluating the procedural model or exchanging data from one CAD system to another. In this paper, we review the existing mechanism for how to deal with the persistent naming problem, the purpose of this survey is to give a state of the art of the existing mechanisms for this problem, and also give the classification and comparison of different methods, then discuss the future work at the end.
