Many electrical devices are required to operate in standby mode when not in performing their primary purpose. Devices operating in standby mode are always on and consistently dissipate power. Recently, the environmental impact of energy consumed by electrical devices in standby mode has attracted the attention of governments and the public. In this paper, to reduce standby power consumption, a single switching double powering converter for AC/DC adapter is proposed. Since the proposed converter has double powering paths during one switching cycle, it can reduce the number of switching times and the switching loss. Therefore, it can decrease the standby power consumption. To verity the performance of the proposed converter, operational principles and experimental results of 65 W/17.5 V prototype are presented.
