dc.description.abstract | In the extreme conditions of launch vehicle in a space, such as cryogenic temperature and low-gravity environment, the mass gauging of remaining propellants becomes much more difficult problem contrary to the case of ordinary conditions. Pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) method is one of the attractive mass gauging methods under low-gravity due to simplicity and reliability. In the PVT method, the ullage volume in a storage tank is estimated from the gas law using measured temperature, pressure in the tank and the injected mass of pressurant helium gas. PVT gauging experiment with various mass flow rate of helium injection is carried out with experimental apparatus applying the inner thermal situation as the condition of low-gravity. The transient change of vertical temperature profile in the tank and gauging results from PVT analysis are observed. | - |
