dc.description.abstract | Mass-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved for the turbulent supersonic flow over an axisymmetric base. Turbulent models adopted in the present computation are the Launder-Sharma``s low-Reynolds k-e and the Wilcox``s k-w model. Dilatational dissipation term suggested by Wilcox is also included in the models to examine its effect on the flow prediction. The computed results show that an adqueate description of the flow field including separation. shear layer development. reattachment along the axis of symmetry is obtained. Considerable discrepancy between the computed results and experimental data. however. is observed. Addition of the dilatational dissipation term to the turbulence models is found to deteriorate the solution. | - |
