Demonstration of 37 nm gain bandwidth from 40 cascaded EDFA system using gain equaliser based on all-fibre acousto-optic tunable filters
The authors demonstrate a gain bandwidth of 37nm in a 40 cascaded erbium-doped fibre amplifier chain, corresponding to a transmission distance of 2400km. This result exceeds the previously reported gain bandwidths by > 11nm at an equivalent transmission distance. This was possible due to the flexible gain equaliser made of all-fibre acousto-optic tunable filters.
