dc.description.abstract | This paper is to examine the recursive properties of human language from the biolinguistic perspectives. Biolinguistics attempt to examine the biologically endowed and unique property for human language that enters into the generation and acquisition of language. Hauser et al.(2002) suggest that the recursion is the core and unique feature of the language faculty in the narrow sense. Biolinguistic minimalism attempts to reduce the internal mechanism of recursion to the operation Merge. Recursion yielding the discrete infinity is the internal linguistic system of humans, a part of the human biological components. Hence it is concluded that the recursive computational operation is the unbound Merge for the structure building, although neural/psychological studies as well as the language experiences may present some other views. | - |
