A fast-convergent series solution for coupling through multiple slits between two conducting parallel plates is presented. Numerical computations are performed to show the coupling characteristics for different slit geometries and frequencies. Our theory is applied to the design of a wideband directional coupler consisting of two rectangular waveguides. (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
