We report a phenomenological model that describes the light output versus current (L-I) characteristics of an integrated multifrequency laser (MFL). This model includes cross talk originating from gain saturation of a shared intracavity amplifier. Model parameters are obtained simply by measurement of the total output power of the MFL over the range of operating currents for each channel.
