A new soft recovery converter that operates in a more reliable and efficient manner than conventional converters by employing a multiple order folding snubber network (MFSN) and energy recovery network (ERN) is proposed. The new converter is suitable for low-cost, high-voltage and high-power applications operating at output powers of up to several kilowatts.
