Nanosecond laser flash photolysis of two n-stylquinoxalines (n = 2, 6; 2-StQx and 6-StQx) produced strong transient absorption bands of the lowest transoid triplet state in the visible region at room temperature. The transient of 6-StQx shows first-order decay with a lifetime of 110-135 ns, whereas that of 2-StQx shows biexponential decay with lifetimes of 90 ns and 1.3-mu-s. The lowest triplet state of n-StQx lies between 42.0 and 47.0 kcal mol-1.
