To manipulate 3D object with conventional input devices like keyboard and mouse, the user is required to learn and make an effort to use 3D solution tool. To solve this issue, we propose a building block style input interface system which offers the users a smart interface that intermediate between the user and the 3D solution tool. In this thesis, we first decomposed the input system into components and the attributes that are needed for the components. After analyzing the system, we considered various alternates for the decomposed components and attributes and then find out the most appropriate method for each component. And then this thesis introduced the details of the process of system implementation. In a usability test, we analyzed the performances of the building block input interface with experiments and obtained user feedback through a questionnaire. This system showed better performances in high dimensional and complicated structure input than low dimensional and simple structure input. We also considered the issues veiled from the questionnaire. Finally, we found out the strength and weakness of the first working version of the system and various applications available using this system.
